How do you think the Andean peoples relate to development and to development cooperation?

¿Qué opinan los pueblos andinos del desarrollo y la cooperación para el desarrollo?

"The intellectual community of the ancient peoples have realized that nowadays we should not take the path of development, but of the well-being. This is a tough fight.

Knowing the capitalist system and knowing the Andean community system one is permanently thinking we have to accumulate wealth, to have a job, to posses their goods, the work of a human group within a pyramidal economy where for instance the proletariat has a minimal wage for living, it is just enough to live but he is not able to buy something else as his boss does, neither his own house, nor any other benefit that science or technology is providing. Therefore, he is not living well, he is suffering, working so the business owner or employer will have better living conditions but he is living just with the minimum wage for living, just to survive.

From the point of view of the Andean community, the ancient peoples from the model of well-being they cannot continue doing the same. The indigenous professional, the indigenous student, or a community member must have a broad knowledge that development means something different than well-being.

Well-being implies to have what is necessary, not the unnecessary, accumulating wealth and things. But it means that everybody has something to eat, to wear, within a concept of equality, working equally, sharing life equally, choosing governing rulers, the elder, the young, integrating everybody to create a balance."

(Quote of the interview with Manuel Pomaquero Minta)
